We booked a family oriented break at this site. My wife and I in one caravan and our daughter, husband and two ten year old girls in another caravan. We phoned the site and they were happy to book us into two adjacent hard standing pitches, which backed on to the stream that runs through the site. Everything went very smoothly, friendly helpful staff met us at the pitches and gave us all the info necessary for our stay. The pitches are large and separated with hedged borders. The stream is shallow and clear, children were playing in it, and there were a few rope swings dotted along the banks. The children were having a great time! There are lots of trees throughout the site and a lake with pitches around the edge. Forestry type walks surround the site. Kids were doing what kids should be doing, playing outside and having lots of fun The site is well kept, they have a shop which is well stocked with lots of Caravan accessories etc. We will be going back to this site!

Yet again this year we have spent a couple of weeks at Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. Although covid changed our experience this year a little it did nothing to hinder the enjoyment we had. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful as always, providing doorstep waste disposal this year, although the toilets and showers were not open when we visited (due to restrictions) we had reason to experience our own van facilities to the full extent for the first time. Overall, another fantastic couple of weeks, site is very close to National Trust venues, and kids really enjoyed the river that runs through the site. Will definitely be coming back.

Just had four nights here and we are not disappointed. Great facilities for kids and adults, rope swings streams for paddling and dinghys, fishing close by little stream train good shop. We had a Chinese from China Moon (menu in reception) totally recommend and they deliver as do a few others. Not something we normally do when camping but after a burst airbed on the first night, new car battery the second day and a broken grill on the third day I think we deserved it. Clean facilities, friendly staff. We will be back next year.

Lovely place, seems to be a lot of thought with the layout of the separate areas. We were in a family area a short walk away from older people, we felt comfortable allowing the kids to play and didn't worry about the noise they made.toilets were placed through the field close enough for everyone (might be nicer if they were siseways on rather than facing tents but being a bit picky. Nice little shop and food van, lovely clean showers. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful site, wide pitches with privacy hedges either side (Willow hardstanding) and right next to the lake. Helpful, friendly staff. We were met on our pitch by a really friendly man who advised where we were to pitch up and park our car. Due to covid restrictions we needed to use our own facilities as the shower and toilet blocks were closed and rubbish was collected from our pitch on a daily basis. Stayed for a weekend which was really good timewise as it allowed a Friday lunchtime arrival and Sunday evening checkout. Will definitely return again when the restrictions are lifted as it would have been nice for nearby family members to come and spend time with us on site as day guests but they were unable to on this occasion. Highly recommended site.

Absolutely loved camping here so did my husband and children. We was pitched on Cedar straight opposite the park, and a stones throw away from the washing up area and toilets (behind our tent). As soon as we checked in we was greeted by a lady on a bike, who showed us to our pitch, she was very friendly and really nice, in fact all the staff onsite were so friendly. The toilets were lovely and cleaned a few times a day. The shop was well stocked and good priced. The Grill Pit was there Friday and Saturday which is good if you didn’t want to cook. The kids loved taking a dip in the stream and we enjoyed having a walk round the site with our dog. The dog did try chasing the ducks. We had glorious weather apart from a few odd showers Sunday, but it didn’t bother us or the kids. We didn’t visit, but just down the road is Go Ape and Sherwood Pines, but we would love to come back an maybe also try out them places too! Keep up the good work and hopefully see you again soon.

We stayed at the end of July for a marvellous 5 night say. The procedures put in place for safety were exemplary. Having water and electricity supplies to our touring caravan enabled us to have a self-contained safe environment whilst having no restrictions enjoying the views, walks and nearby places of interest. Being on the island with the river and weir on our front door was relaxing to listen to and beautiful to have as our view. Staff were courteous, helpful and couldn’t have been any more accommodating considering the circumstances. Highly recommend for all groups and especially those with children.

What a weekend! We went at the start of August and then we booked for the Aug Bank holiday. We loved the place, little Gem tucked away! The staff are welcoming, endearing and will go to the end of the earth for you! The little food cabin is an absolute delight, does lovely chips too! The shop is well stocked with everything you need. The toilets and showers were closed off due to Covid but this wasn't a problem. You don't have to travel far for fun, the near by cycle tracks, on site stream (River Maun) and the ducks that feed out of your hands are all a delight! I honestly can't credit this site any more. It was brilliant.

We have been coming to this site for many years and it just keeps getting better. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the pitch sizes are generous and flat and the staff could not be more friendly, welcoming or helpful with wardens available on site at any time. The showers and toilets are clean modern and free, there are numerous spacious pot washing facilities, laundry facilities, a well stocked and reasonably priced shop and great child play areas. The site is set within large grounds and it's great for walking especially along the river bank which runs through the site. There is also a take away concession which comes at peak times. Staff regularly maintain the site and even tour the site to check everyone is ok at busy times. I can't recommend it enough.

Me, my Fiancee and our seven year old Nephew went for 4 days and met up with our friends and there 4 kids. We all had an amazing time, our nephew is looking forward to wanting to go back again. We can't fault any of the staff, everyone was really pleasant with us. I found the facilities very clean and well looked after. Kids had enough to do to keep themselves entertained throughout the day, along with myself and my mate who used our inflatable boat for the stream, not sure who enjoyed it more the adults or the kids but either way it definitely brought entertainment value to us all. Shop was good, well stocked for kids to purchase sweets or toys and they were very helpful when we asked if we could stay late. There is a nice Indian takeaway down the road as well. 5 star, we would definitely go back again just as our friends already have. Thank you.

Just visited for the first time camping. Such a lovely site, nice and peaceful, we had great weather too. Staff greeted us at our pitch and gave lots of info. We was next to the park and the river. My kids enjoyed the other park on site aswell. Lots of ducks around and a peacock walking about very clean site. Shop on site was great and some lovely places nearby. We went to Sherwood Pines Forest and Go Ape, and to Sherwood Forest. Would definitely reccomend and we will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

We love it here and have visited many times. The site is just so family friendly with lakes and rivers all around. The staff are always on hand to help if you need it. There is so much for the whole family to do around this area now, such as Sherwood Forest, Sherwood pines Rufford Abbey country park, Wheelgate park (amazing water park). Further (but not much) afield is Rotherham valley country park, Gullivers Valley theme park. This area has really blossomed in respect as a tourist attraction area for families. And this camp site is an ideal place from which to explore it.

The park is lovely. Brilliant facilities and really good areas for kids to play, paddle and ride. Would definitely go again and will recommend to all my camping friends. Only thing that put a dampener on the holiday was excessive noise from kids ramming a bottle between the frame and their tyres. Maybe a little more should’ve been done about that. A trend that hopefully won’t last.

Absolutely delightful and beautiful. Our first stay and truly wonderful. Will definitely be booking again. So helpful, friendly and dog friendly. Clean and well kept with good information, especially at this tough time of Covid. Everything cleansed and explained, thank you so much.

We love it here. This summer's been marvellous for the kids, paddling in the river. There are peacocks and all types of ducks. Well kept and friendly management and wardens. Not far to Sherwood Forest and Center Parks with lots of lovely eating places around the site also.

A lovely place to visit for a get away from it all long weekend yet less than an hour's drive away. Picturesque and relaxing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. One of my favourite caravan parks to visit.

Beautiful site, well maintained with friendly and helpful staff. Great idea of a Sunday evening check out for a weekend stay which makes it a longer break. No toilet or shower facilities available on our stay due to covid restrictions but we were able to use our own facilities. Will be back for another visit next year.

Me and my partner stayed here for a weekend and it was glorious! Wonderful layout and facilities, frequently cleaned and maintained. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. It's very family orientated and it makes for a fun, relaxed, safe atmosphere. Just what you need! We will definitely return, thank you for a lovely stay!

We stayed here for 1 night as it was our first time camping and we wanted to try it out somewhere local to us. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The warden was very helpful when he met us at our pitch. The park was very clean. The toilets an showers were cleaned several times throughout the day. The pitch we stayed on was very spacious. The shop was very well stocked. After 10.30pm the park became very peaceful and continued throughout the night. There were lots of friendly people around us. We had a lovely walk around the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our first night camping and we would definitely return here again. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay for the night.

We went for the first time. 12 years of motorhoming. Absolutely loved this site. It won’t be our last. Never heard of a 7 oclock departure absolutely lovely staff they really have thought of everything. The locals (seasonal pitch holders) couldn’t have been friendlier. We just can’t wait to come back.

This is a well run, friendly, family holiday park. We have been visiting this site for years and always have a wonderful time. There are lovely walks around and leading from the park, a beautiful stream runs through it and there are ample play places for younger children, I couldn't recommend it more. We always book again for the following year whilst we are here to guarantee we get a pitch the following year.

Love this site, spotlessly clean excellent shop and staff (especially Andy). Look forward to our stays here so much. Nice and quiet with lovely walks through the woods, or just sat by the lake watching the birds with a book and a good bottle of wine. Life doesn’t get much better.

Me and my sisters family stayed with our children. Nice play park for the kids and family. Nice little shop. My little girl loved her Robin Hood bow and arrows. And they where reasonably priced. Lovely site, clean and tidy. All the staff where friendly and helpful going out of their way to help. Would definitely recommend highly. Was lovely to have the river so close on the hottest day of the year. Loved every minute off our holiday.

Went on our first camping trip with two adults and eight kids for 2 nights. Kathrine was amazing in helping us and all the other staff were friendly and supportive. Absolutely fantastic site, friendly people, lots to see and do with little ones and the burger bar was out of this world for the food we had. Would highly reccomend to anyone. We will definitely be going back hopefully for a bit longer stay.
What a fantastic holiday park. My husband comes here regularly with his children but on this occasion settled for second best and bought me. The facilities are fabulously clean and warm. The cycle paths around are great and only about 15 minute ride to the pub. I briefly met the owners who were lovely. Would absolutely recommend coming here. Well done.

Excellent site with nice facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had one of their super pitches, with electric, drainage and water connections. The showers were very spacious, wet rooms and under floor heating (although there was only three in use due to Covid). The family room also has a bath, which families would find convenient. The site was very quiet which suited us fine. That was September so not sure how busy it gets in mid summer. Overall great location for York and the surrounding area."

First time here over the weekend and we had a lovely time. All of the team were helpful and friendly The park itself is beautifully kept, clean and peaceful. The other thing I loved was they allowed all types of dogs, no ignorance towards bull breeds. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

We stayed for the first time this weekend, it was so peaceful, beautifully kept, and immaculately clean. Best stocked site shop I've ever come across, very friendly helpful warden. We were given all information as soon as we arrived, the warden even greets you personally. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks for a great stay.

I think this gem of a campsite may just have converted me to camping! The surroundings are beautiful with a gorgeous shallow river running through it. It was a highlight of our stay watching the children (and my husband) sailing in their dinghies and catching fish. The pitches are a good size and allow for privacy and the shower blocks are immaculate, not a spider in sight! Now that I’ve admitted camping isn’t all that bad I am certain we will be back again!

We have just returned from our second visit to the park. The site was very busy but the toilet and shower block where always very clean and the water hot. The staff are all very helpful, great camping shop on site. Our children have already asked when we are going again!

Just arrived back from another wonderfull stay at the park. As ever the whole team are wonderfull and always make us feel very welcome. The park itself is always imaculate, the team do an excelant job of keeping it spik and span. Everything you require is on this site and nothing is too much trouble. Cannot praise the site enough, as each time we go we are well looked after and well imformed with constant updates on the weather, as we always park on Riverside. It is always a pleasure to visit with the whole family, who enjoy the freedome that comes with this very family friendly site.

We love this caravan park, it has such a lovely atmosphere and is in a great setting. The pitches are large and it is great for the kids. We stayed on riverside and it was very relaxing. The staff here are brilliant, very welcoming and helpful. Would recommend!

I stayed here on Friday the 15th of September and loved it. It's was only our 3rd time out in our caravan so still nervous about the whole thing. On arival the reception was easy to find and a very friendly greeting made my nerves disappear. The kind lady took me to my pitch and asked if i need a hand. We had a very nice pitch next to the river which was great. I then set up on my own and went to fetch my wife and kids, their faces as i pulled up we're priceless. They all loved the look of it as I did. The toilets are clean and the park is perfect for the little ones. I don't normally write reviews as I don't have much time being self employed but just wanted to say how happy we were with everything and will definitely be returning.

We have a seasonal pitch here. Fantastic place, fantastic people, warm friendly and welcoming nothing is to much trouble for them. All you have to do is ask and they will do whatever they can to help. Been coming for over 20 years and still enjoy ever minute here, so relaxing and healing.

Just got back from a lovely long weekend. We always have a nice time here and so before we left we booked for next year! You need to book early to avoid disappointment. Staff are always very chatty and friendly. Kids love it. They can paddle in the shallow river and ride their bikes till sunset, it's great. Lots to do nearby too. Rufford park, Sherwood Visitors Centre, the little steam train just a short walk away, we love it. Happy camping and heres to next year!

We came here Monday to buy some tubing and ended up booking for two nights on our first trip away. Fabulous place, drove passed entrance for years never knew how lovely it was. Excellent friendly staff, good shop although no fresh vegetables. Site is peaceful and clean, the ducks and geese are a hoot such characters. Our friends have remarked how lovely it is and we have enjoyed our first caravanning venture.

Lovely clean campsite. Friendly helpful staff. The children had great fun playing in the stream and on the parks. Well stocked shop. Like a previous review stated cars can drive a bit fast especially coming down the hill going over the first bridge. Speed signs/humps would help this. Also bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as the peacock doesn't seem to sleep much! We had a great time and will definitely return!

First trip to Sherwood Forest Holiday Park for me, my hubby and six year old daughter. Just spent 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) and it was great! Picked our pitch when we booked over the phone and when we checked in we were shown to our pitch by the river, lovely friendly staff, so helpful. Showers etc were spotlessly clean, all amenities close by, the site shop is well stocked with everything you could need. The site is gorgeous! Ducks, geese, peacocks roaming around. Very quiet and relaxing. We will definitely be back very soon!

Stayed here twice and it's been marvellous. Site is clean, well organised and spacious with a well stocked on site shop. Stunning river bank pitches that the children can fish in. Blocks clean and tidy (although only gripe is they could have a seat in the showers). Highly recommend and will definately be returning in the near future. Our recent visit was marred by a burst river bank but it subsided within a few hours and was due to freak weather. We still managed our Queens celebratory street party. The site staff were marvellous.

We enjoyed our stay at your site so much at the weekend. It really completed our time at the Sherwood Forest Festival for us. Your site is clean, tidy, well kept and well laid out. The reception and shop was well staffed with nice, friendly people. The food van is a fantastic idea. Ideal for folk who can't be bothered cooking, or just don't have the facilities. The washroom and toilet blocks were spotlessly clean and plentiful. Plenty of play areas for the kids, and a fantastic dog walk all around the campsite, with plenty of dog bins. You may be just about the best site we have been on, and that's saying something as we take ten holidays a year. Overall, an absolutely fantastic site.

Having just returned home after spending 3 nights here, I would like to say thank you very much to the team who organise and run the site, it's so clean, it feels very safe, my kids had a great time and I have relaxed in the sanctuary of tall trees and flowing streams. Will be back soon.

Beautiful place, nice hard standing pitches. Good facilities. Could do with some hose on the drinking water points. I got soaked filling the aqua roll up, who'd have thought, water did not run in a straight line! We went in winter and we will definitely come back in the summer to see the difference.

This was our first caravaning holiday with our new to us van. Had an absolutely fantastic week. Kids loved it, nice little parks, and loads to do with the little river running through the site and lots of places to visit locally. Toilet/showers were always warm and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely consider returning to this lovely site again in future.

Sherwood forest holiday park is a lovely campsite. It has abundant wildlife nearby, including a couple of peacocks that like to wander around. There's always a warden on duty who is usually very helpful. There's several shower/toilet blocks that are very clean and a little on site shop that has various camping supplies and food items, toiletries and even a few little toys. The shop isn't very expensive although as expected some items are a little above what they are elsewhere in other shops. The price per night for a tent is worth it, it's a little costlier in the summer but still a great price. The price includes your electric hook up and the hot showers. I would definitely recommend staying hear at least once during the summer as it's a lovely place a little out of the way of the rest of the world, although in driving and potentially walking/bus distance if you so wish.

Due to covid all toilets and washrooms are currently closed. Doesn't really affect caravanners though. We loved our short weekend away. Mesmerising watching the river taking leaves past the back of the van, literally 2mtrs away. Nice and polite people who run it. Will defo be back.

Just returned from the site having booked 5 nights, wardens and staff very helpful. Sited the van for us on arrival as our motormover was in for repair. I think the pitches are wide enough but you would struggle backing a larger van into some pitches. Dog walkers dream you can go for miles in the woodlands. We went early season and survived storm Doris! I would imagine this would be a very busy site in full season. Overall I would recommend to anyone that wants a peaceful break early season.

Sherwood Forest holiday park is the cleanest, friendliest, most relaxed park we go to. Surrounded by the woodland, you have beautiful walks to keep you and the kids entertained, or if your a fisherman, ponds just behind the park. You really have no need to use the car. We live 10 minutes away from the park but love to visit it, it's total relaxation for us!

A beautiful site, very picturesque, well maintained and very clean. The best thing of all however, are the staff. When we arrived we found out we had been moved to a different plot due to some unforeseen issue with the one we had booked. Because of this, they offered us credit for a future stay which was gratefully accepted. Halfway through our stay, we had to leave for a funeral which was arranged after we'd booked at the park and even though they weren't obliged to do so, they gave us a partial refund. I can't recommend this place enough, we'll definitely be returning in future.

I don't usually leave reviews, however, we had an impromptu visit to this site this weekend, wow! How impressed we were! From the pitch location we had been sited too. Knowing there were children in the party the staff put us right next too the playground, literally, also a close walk to the toilets! Staff super friendly, site amazing clean, just sad we didn't stay longer! We will definitely be returning here.

Such a pretty and well established caravan park. You really do have to walk around the whole site and let it reveal itself. First trip out in our new van after 20yrs away from touring Van's. Wanted somewhere close to home just to get back in the swing of things. Did an internet search for quality local sites and we chose Sherwood. Wow, what a fantastic place! A huge site over tens of acres but the pitches are so spacious that you don't feel cramped at all, in fact just the opposite. Gorgeous place and so peaceful, even on a busy weekend. Just 30 mins from home and we felt we were miles away. Friendly staff and must mention the butty can. Great guy and food to match. So looking forward to going back!

A very good caravan site. Very good pitches excellent showers and toilets, the staff are lovely very friendly and helpful, the on site shop is well stocked with useful camping equipment as well as a range of groceries (a morning paper can be ordered the night before). There's a mobile food seller parks up near the reception/shop not sure if he's there all week definitely there at weekends. The site is perfectly situated to use a car to visit the many attractions Nottinghamshire has to offer eg Rufford park. It's a bit of a trek to the nearest pub so its ideal for those who like to stay around their pitch. It was good to see children being children playing on their bikes or on the park and playing near the shallow brook. I really do like this site and recommend it.

Great site lovely location, it is a large site but as the area's are grouped it has the feel of a small friendly site. The staff are very helpful and show you to your pitch, then where the nearest facilities are to your pitch. The pitches are large and level mainly hard standing with EH and TV aerial connection. The shop is small but very well stocked as is the information point. Highly recommended.

Absolutely excellent. This camp site has 2 play areas for children, wooded areas and a stream shallow enough for paddling. The pitches are immaculately maintained. Even the shop is great - obviously not supermarket prices but very reasonable for a site store. This is now our go to site for a break.

We have just got back from a weekend here camping with the kids. Wow! We had lovely weather so I must admit it does help but the place was lovely really well maintained pitches, shower blocks were really clean and there's plenty to do around you. What topped it off for me was the stream that ran through the park. Absolutely full of kids playing on rubber rings (coming down the stream) and fishing wit little nets. We will be going back here soon!

Love coming here one of our best places to go, such a lovely site with great shower facilities. The park is great for the kids and they makes friends as soon as we pull up, quite often don't see much of them after that. Staff are fantastic and great pitches along the river.

Just returned from a weekend stay at this lovely site. My first comment has to be about the staff. They were cheerful and helpful at all times. Our jockey wheel broke and we were discussing it with the lady who met us to park up and give us all the info regarding the site. She proceeded to go back up to the office, browse the net, and returned shortly after with the name and address of the nearest supplier. Above and beyond her remit I would say. There were loads of staff around the site and I never saw one looking anything less than happy and they were all really helpful and sociable. We will definitely be visiting this site again. A real gem!

We have spent a wonderful 4 nights on this friendly campsite. The toilet blocks were spotless, as was the laundry and potwashing areas. The walks around the camp, next to the river, for dogs had bins at regular distances, so there was no mess. The site shop was well equipped with everything a camper could need, and the prices were good. From friday night there is a weekend snack hut. We left on the Saturday morning and we had to have one of their delicious bacon butties after trying to get everything back in the car. Can't wait to return.
Just come back form weekend at Sherwood Forest caravan park, what a great weekend. The staff here are among the best you'll find could not have been more helpful. After guiding you to your pitch and pointing out where all the water points and amenities are, they tell you that if you have any problems just to give them a call. Site itself was extremely quiet even though there was a concert in Sherwood Pines and the site was full off concert goers we had been warned there might be a bit of noise, but I can honestly say we did not hear anything at all. Facilities were spot on clean and plenty of hot water. Overall this site is extremely good value.

My twins and I have just returned home following a 2 night stay at this fabulous site. We found the site to be very peaceful and very quiet. Just what was needed. Our pitch was a very good size with laurel hedges on 2 sides and hedging behind for privacy. There are pleasant walks through the site, along the river and around the pond. The ducks at the pond are so tame and eager to be fed, will eat straight out of your hand. The shop looks well stocked and the reception staff were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely use this site again and would highly recommend it.

Debut camping trip for the family. Asked the lady on reception if we could have a plot near the loo's and play park. We were given both, excellent location. The site was quite large, but didn't feel unwelcoming. My son loved the freedom of scooting about on the site and meeting new friends. Never struggled for a loo, pot wash or shower. Very clean site, lots of staff keeping the site in excellent condition. Very hard to find a negative. Would highly recommend this site for anyone.

Well it was our first weekend here and will most defiantly not be our last. We loved it! Brilliant facilities, clean and well kept. It leaves me one last thing to say which is thank you!!! The weekend was just not long enough.

Welcomed here after giving very short notice having been let down by a campsite close by. Our pitch was a good size and flat by the lake. Choice of wash and toilet blocks which were kept clean and nice and warm. Nice on cold mornings. Some walks from the site and close to many more only short drives away. Some 1st class fish and chips from local village and they deliver! Thanks to the staff for turning a bad day into a good one.

Superb. Excellent weekend package that enables you to have a full weekend as you do not need to be off until 7pm on Sunday. Spotlessly clean and tidy facilities which were never really under pressure even on a full weekend. Beautiful setting with two rivers and lakes to walk, relax and watch the world go by. Our first time here and what a great time we had. The site is clean, pitchers are spacious. There are plenty of routes for walking or cycling etc. We met some really nice people. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Geese and ducks often walked around where we were, even came and sat down at the side of us. We couldn’t use the shower blocks and toilets as they were closed due to covid but I would say by the standard of the site they would be a 10 out of 10 so that’s what I have given them. The other facilities fresh water taps, waste disposal were only 30 seconds away if that. We shall definitely be booking here again for a longer period and would definitely recommend this holiday park.

Just finished a four night stay at this great site. Nice friendly welcome from the wardens. Good modern facilities, the site is immaculate, lots of company from the ducks, geese and others. Would highly recommend to all and will return no problem. Thanks to all the staff. Oh yes great little shop and very well stocked
What a beautiful site! Our first visit but it won't be our last. We had a lovely pitch overlooking the lake. The site is immaculately kept and all the staff are extremely helpful. There are 3 blocks of facilities which were always lovely and warm, one block was being refurbished whilst we were there. There is a shop with food essentials and just about everything you need camping wise. There is a launderette and plenty of leaflets of things to do in the area. A food van although not open when we were there and lots of takeaway menus which you can have delivered to site. Lots of walks through the woods and along the river. A motorhome drop point which always pleases hubby! Thanks for a lovely break. We will return.

This is a lovely site with very good drained pitches, which I admit I was worried being next to streams and ponds but they were fab pitches. We were greeted each morning with ducks (the kids loved it). Toilet blocks were kept really immaculate and all the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The children enjoyed the play areas and my partner the local fishing! There's a stream that the kids could play in and some had rubber rings, something we would love to come back and do (reminded me of our childhood days)it was lovely to see all the young ones just having fun and as adults made us feel very relaxed. There are plenty of places that looked good for bikes and again another thing we would like to bring back. If you can't already tell, we will definitely be back!

Such a pretty site, a mix of seasonal, tents and tourers. We had a lovely riverside pitch, a beautiful spot with a shallow river running at the back of the van, a family of ducks with lots of ducklings and geese with 13 goslings. Facilities were great lovely and clean, nice hot showers. Shop on site to buy supplies if you need to and a small van that does food, didn’t try this but looked good. Near to go ape and the major oak both well worth a visit. Helpful wardens showed us to the pitch and helped point out taps and facilities. Lovely little park.

This is a campsite we keep returning to every year due to its relaxed but efficient service, and lovely surroundings. We have been a few times as a family with two young children, once with another family and once with the in laws, and each time it has been so relaxing. The staff are friendly. Camping next to the River is amazing, it's so clear you can sometimes see the fish. Kids love the play area and freedom to scoot about. The shop has all you need plus more and there is a food van at times. It's near Sherwood forest, and Rufford Abbey is a nice afternoon in the sun. Edwinstowe is very close. Mansfield has a good swimming pool if there is rain! We don't usually go back to the same place, but this site has become a comfortable easy weekend that we always enjoy and I would happily recommend. My only reservation is I'm not sure I could keep us all occupied in the surrounding area for longer than a long weekend.

This is the most well maintained site I have been on, this is why I will review all the rest I have stayed on this year. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. We were met at our pitch by a helpful member of staff who gave us the run down on where everything was. The site was spotless, even down to the bins along the walks used for dog waste smelled of detol. The pitch was spacious along side the river, it looks as though they re gravel each site after it has been used. The shop was well stocked and very reasonable prices. The toilets and hot showers were spotless, the washing up area was well lit. There is a fishing pond within a short walk, which looked like it is mowed on a regular basis. I'm not into fishing myself but it was a sun trap to sit and read a book while my partner enjoyed the fishing. We didn't use the local pub so cannot comment. We only stayed for two nights so didn't get to go on as many walks as I would of liked. Perfect for our border collie who loves long walks. Will definitely be returning to this site, it is a credit to all that work there.
Another great stay for our easter weekend. Wardens to be commended for their continued helpfulness, nothing too much trouble. Shower /toilet block continually cleaned despite the site being very wet at times. Always in attendance and on hand, nevertheless the addition of a family shower/bathroom would be appreciated. The treasure hunt on Easter Sunday was enjoyed by all, young and old alike. Each and every child received a goody bag of sweets, much to their delight. The site itself is always immaculate. On this unfortunate occasion we were subject to torrential rain during the night, but the warden made it his job to inform each of the caravanners on the riverside location, to prepare for the worse and that he would be checking every hour to access the river level. This only made for a more exciting evening. A big thank you to all the team at Sherwood Forest Holiday park. See you again in August.

We have just spent a very happy 4 days at this park and I think it has become one of our favourites. The pitch was spacious and the hedging surrounding the pitches at our part gives extra privacy. We have 3 boys age 8, 12 and 14 who were out and about riding their bikes and playing happily around the site, which felt safe. The wide shallow stream that the kids can play in was a big hit too. Access was really easy and the area was lovely and very quiet. There was lots to do round about, good cycle rides and Clumber Park National Trust site proved a lovely day out. The little shop is well stocked and all the staff were friendly. The site rules seemed to be observed re noise etc too. The dog walk was one of the best we've had on a campsite taking you along the stream and there was also a nice longer woodland walk to enjoy. Although in countryside there are plenty of larger facilities in near by Mansfield if you need them. All in all, we had a great trip and will certainly visit again.
